It's Late, Rest Your Head :: Fall Tour 2009

Then Comes Spring...
....a one-man, one-act experiment in self help.

"I wanted to experiment with the idea of putting sound-bites, quotes and slogans from our celebrity, advertising and self-help cultures in the mouth of a homeless man because the irony of that juxtaposition seemed powerful to me... and considering our culture's obsession with wealth and well-being at any cost, along with the rising fear surrounding the 'financial crisis', I was interested in ways of challenging us to re-evaluate the kinds of stories we allow ourselves to be enticed by." ~ James Simpson

Buy your tickets in advance for this blockbuster starring James Simpson with music provided by singer-songwriter Lance Odegard (www.lanceodegard.com).

2 NEW ALBUMS - March 2009

The new albums are completed! HERE, the ambient folk album, which is a collection of some brooding/ down-tempo originals and a few covers. AFTER A LONG HARD WINTER, IT'S GOOD TO GO HOME is the Americana/ Bluegrass/ Old Time Gospel album. After starting these two projects in November 2007, it feels really good for these songs to see the light of day. Both albums were recorded and mixed by Jon Anderson at Buena Vista Audio. It was a really relaxed and creative recording experience, and I think it translates in the recordings.

More info to come regarding CD release shows, summer tour plans (western canada!), and where you can purchase the albums.

For now you can find them at:
CD Baby - Here and After a Long Winter...
House of James (Abbotsford BC)
Regent Bookstore (Vancouver BC)
iTunes
or of course you can order them through Paypal (buttons above) and I'll ship them to you!

Thanks for listening,
Lance

OTHER NEWS:

Renovation Reviews:
Renovation has received a couple of reviews. The Phantom Tollbooth has a few nice things to say about the recording. Read the review at tollbooth.org. Infuze Magazine writer Leo Partible writes "Renovation is a collection of songs that doesn't jump out at you so much as work it's way into your sub-conscious with repeated listens. Not that the lyrics are inaccessible; these are songs about being changed by God but the melodies are subtle, gentle, they kind of brush up against you before you realize their strength. This isn't Christian music about how wonderful everything is but songs that look at the grit and grime of being an imperfect person in an imperfect world who is trying to reconcile those things with belief in a loving God. Lance Odegard is a great singer/songwriter who should win over many new listeners with this record. He certainly did with me." Read the rest of the review at Infuzemag.com

Merge Compilation:
The song Renovation has been included on a recent compilation CD of Canadian Artists called MERGE (blue).

Buy Renovation at iTunes and eMusic.com
Both iTunes and eMusic.com are fantastic places to find and download music. Now the masses can purchase individual songs off of Renovation. Buy at eMusic or at iTunes.

MySpace:
Lance now has a myspace page! here
What does this mean? Not much. However, the page does have a blog, a few mp3s, links to many fine artists, and greatest of all, information regarding a top secret hidden track found on Lance's new album, Renovation. Who knew? Stop by and say hello sometime.

Buying Renovation is Easy:
Renovation is now available at the following places:
Merchants Tea & Coffeehouse (Camrose, Alberta)
House of James (Abbotsford, British Columbia) // here

CD Release Show Summary:
Hello All. The CD Release Concert in Abbotsford was stunning. Thanks to everyone who made it out for the show. Thanks for laughing at my bad jokes. Thanks for listening to my keyboard playing. Thanks for supporting. There was something very special about the evening. Hope we can share another one some time soon.

New Album Completed:
Lance spent 10 days in June recording a new record. It’s called Renovation and it features 12 original songs and some of his finest songwriting to date.
Lance values approaching music collaboratively, so he involved Steve Klassen from Abbotsford BC and Bruce Rawling from Medicine Hat AB, to help with producing and shaping the album. Steve Klassen and Jonathan Anderson mixed the album and the result is a recording of honest, mature songs.
Also featured on the album are Mel Hayes (Brian Doerksen Band), Sheree Plett and Carolyn Arends, who brought their distinct vocal sounds. Jonathan Anderson (Jonathan Inc., Radiogram) played banjo, lap steel, electric guitar and dobro. Nelson Boschman (Nelson Boschman Trio, MJC) added his tasteful playing on Wurlitzer, piano, and the Hammond organ. Bruce Rawling (Rawling Brothers), Steve Klassen (Sterr) and Adam Thomas shared the bass credits. Roy Salmond played pump organ. Kenton Wiens kept things solid and full of feel on the drums and cymbals.

Renovation was released on September 25th 2005 and is available at House of James
